As you all know by now, Labor Day finds a reversed set of events. Boom’s Day is Saturday, and the Football Game is Sunday. That will present some challenges to docking at the VOL Navy.
All vessels must vacate the VOL Navy Docks by Noon on Saturday, 8/30. No docking will be allowed the entire day. Fireworks begin approximately 9:30 PM. Once the Fireworks are over, a 20 minute downtime will exist where NO boats will be allowed on the docks. Approximately 10:30 PM the docks will be opened for docking.
However, we IMPLORE all boat owners to be courteous of everyone else. Larger boats (i.e. Houseboats and cruisers > 40 ft in length) have to be moored on the docks. Smaller vessels can tie up to them. Please allow the larger boats to tie up against the docks first.
Another Boom’s Day Event Planning Meeting is scheduled for 8/12. Stay tuned for more details as they are released.
Please be aware that the Ned McWherter Park and Boat Ramp will be closed from May 30, 2014 to June 1, 2014, due to the Knoxville Powerboat Races. Plan accordingly.
WHERE: Volunteer Landing, Downtown Knoxville
Race fans can expect fast and exciting fun at the Powerboat Superleague Racing on the Tennessee. An international field of contenders, the best F2 and F3 tunnel boat drivers, are scheduled to kick off their season, stop number one on the 2014 seven race Superleague tour.
Teams from across the United States and Canada will start individual quests for circuit high-points, as well as racing for event purse and prizes and series championships on the Tennessee River at Volunteer Landing.
See the details at VisitKnoxville.
NOTE: Ned McWherter Park and boat ramp will be closed for public access from Friday, May 30 – Sunday, June 1 for this event.
Stay tuned for details on arrangements for docking Boom’s Day and the Utah State game on Sunday.
