US NAVY WEEK
Wow! What a week. US Navy week ended with a bang for sure and Commander Kevin West commented that Knoxville's Navy Week will be arguably the best Navy Week of 2009.
MC1s Matlock and Sartain posted 76 photos to Flickr (http://www.flickr.com). Search "Knoxville Navy Week" on the site and you'll find them.
Take pride everyone. We did good.
3-Star Vice Admiral Harry B. Harris Jr.
Join us at a Special Reception for 3-Star Vice Admiral Harry B. Harris, Jr. (U.S. Navy) to be held Friday, September 4th at 4:30 pm at the VOL Navy Docks. Vice Admiral Harris is the deputy chief of Naval Operations for Communication Networks (OPNAV N6) and the Deputy Department of the Navy Chief Information Officer (Navy).
This reception, just one very big part of Knoxville Navy Week, will be hosted aboard the "KokOasis", "All Inn" (and perhaps another houseboat, or two) and will mark the first time the U.S. Navy and the VOL Navy have ever been formally introduced.
At the conclusion of a 1-hour river cruise aboard the "Trace 1" sightseeing water taxi, the Admiral and his party will arrive the VOL Navy docks (4:30 pm), where they will join invited guests for refreshments. If you would like to be included on the guest list, you must RSVP via e-mail before September 1st. Please indicate how many will be in your party.

Debut of the new Jumbotron

This year, 2009, a new improved communication device has been installed at Neyland Stadium. The jumbotron has been completely rebuilt and now boasts a video screen that covers the entire dimensions of the housing. The rebuild is now complete and while viewing the new screen will have to wait for the first game, here is a sneak peak of the new jumbotron from the river.

US Navy Week Comes to Knoxville
Navy Weeks are designed to tell the Navy’s story: what we do, why it is important and what opportunities exist in today’s Navy. These events consist of community visits by Admirals and ordinary sailors with namesake and hometown connections.
Knoxville Navy Week 2009 is packed with events demonstrating the mission of the Navy and our proud heritage. These events could include Navy Band performances, Navy Fitness Challenges, Accelerate Your Life Experience (AYLE) Simulator and Navy Theme-Wrapped Suburban all intent to give the public a personal look at the men and women of the Navy serving throughout the world in different roles. A special performance of the Navy Band will be at the Western Kentucky - Vols Football opener VOL Navy on September 5, 2009.
Knoxville's Navy Week conincides with our own 2009 Chrysler Jeep Boom Day Weekend.
